Last month, I met with Glenlyn Medical Centre in Molesey to get answers about changes at the surgery after local residents got in touch with me to express their concerns. Many of these concerns centred around news of GP redundancies at the surgery.
At the meeting, I asked Glenlyn to provide proof that the number of appointments available to all patients remains the same despite replacing some GPs with Advanced Clinical Practitioners. Glenlyn have confirmed this is the case, with an average offer of 4.25 appointments per patient per year.
I also made clear that patients want to see three things:
- better access to a GP or health professional as and when they need one
- higher quality and more personal care, which is often best done face to face, not online
- a guarantee on the future of Glenlyn so Molesey residents can continue to have a quality GP surgery
After we met, they agreed to communicate and better explain what is happening at Glenlyn. They’ve have now published an FAQs page on their website. You can find this here.
I hope this answers many of the questions we all had, but if you’re still concerned or have a question that isn’t answered, please write to me on [email protected] so I can raise your concerns with the surgery directly.
