Following the recent news about Glenlyn Medical Centre in Molesey, this morning I met with partners and GPs to get some answers on what is going on at the surgery.
Thank you to everyone who has contacted me to share their views. It's very clear we all want to see three things:
- access to a GP or health professional as and when we need one
- a high quality & personal care, often best done face to face, not online
- and a guarantee on the future of Glenlyn so Molesey residents can continue to have a quality GP surgery
We had an honest and very frank discussion around these three areas.
I was told that the GP redundancies in question are a result of having more staff than the surgery had capacity for. The team at Glenlyn also assured me that patient to GP ratio and number of GP appointments available will remain unchanged. I’ve asked for evidence on this, and I will post more information as soon as I’ve got it.
