Now that inflation is halved, the government has been able to start bringing down tax with a reduction happening this month for 27 million people across the UK. Locally, this will benefit about 50,000 people and put about £589 a year back in the pocket of the average employee in the Esher and Walton constituency.
Alongside the Bank of England, the government has taken tough decisions on public sector pay, public spending, and lower borrowing to ensure the inflation caused by global energy prices is halved as quickly as possible. This is in stark contrast to the Labour Party who have already announced £28 billion of extra borrowing, paid for by higher taxes.
