I’ve spent most of my career working in education, so ensuring young people are supported with their mental health is something I feel passionately about. After meeting representatives from The Eikon Charity, a mental health charity supporting young people across Surrey, at Walton Heritage Day, it was great to visit the team at their head office in New Haw to learn more about their important work.
We talked about how early intervention is essential to prevent problems becoming much bigger, how we can support young people with their mental health, and what we can do to help ease the transition from primary to secondary school. It was great to hear Hannah’s own story, but also how she’s now helping and supporting so many young people locally.
We also discussed the opportunities available to volunteer with The Eikon Charity. They are looking for volunteers to join their mentoring programme to support young people in schools across Surrey. You can find out more here.
Thank you to the team at The Eikon Charity for taking the time to meet with me!
