With record-high NHS funding, our plan for the area also includes strengthening local NHS services, so it was useful to stop by Capelfield Surgery in Claygate to speak to Dr Ibbett about what we can do to support GP practices who are on the frontline of healthcare.
Dr Ibbett spoke about how local GP surgeries are taking a joined-up approach by enabling patients to attend a neighbouring surgery if there isn’t an appointment available at their usual GP. For example, if your surgery is Capelfield but they are unable to fit in an appointment for when you need it, they may be able to secure you an appointment at Emberbrook Medical Centre in Thames Ditton. This is helping to reduce waiting times by enabling more patients across Esher and Walton constituency to see a GP when they need to.
Locally, we are working to increase the number of GP appointments and reduce waiting times by expanding the range of care and services at our local community hospitals and GP practices. You can read more about Our Plan to strengthen local NHS services here.
