I’ve spent most of my career working in education, which is why I am campaigning for even more apprenticeships locally. Since 2010, there have been nearly 6 million new apprenticeships – about 5,000 of these have been in our local area – and I wants to build on this progress.
It's why the Prime Minister has set out a clear plan to deliver 100,000 extra apprenticeships per year. This is nearly £1 billion extra for apprenticeships on top of the existing system.
This bold action will ensure young people have the skills they need to get good, secure jobs. As opposed to Labour, who would oversee a 50% reduction in apprenticeship funding by relaxing funding rules.
