Today, I popped down to The Parade in Claygate to meet local businesses about the lack of consultation from the Lib Dem-run Elmbridge Borough Council over plans for a new three story M&S given the impact on independent retailers.
No one was against the idea outright, but they couldn't understand why it had been done in secret and without thought given to independent shops or the identity of Claygate village.
