The progress our country has made on apprenticeships is astonishing. The vast majority of professions from accountancy and law, to nurse and teacher, or engineering and construction, now have an apprentice route. I've been particularly proud in my job at UCAS to oversee apprenticeships being put on a level playing field, for the very first time, with university and undergraduate courses.
In our area, there have been about 5000 new apprenticeship starts since 2010, so I'd encourage local employers to think about whether this is a great way to get talent into their business. You can find out more about apprenticeships whether you’re growing your business, or changing your career here.
