It was great to join Health Minister, Andrea Leadsom, at White House Dental Clinic in Walton to hear more about the Government’s new NHS Dental Recovery Plan, which will deliver 2.5 million additional NHS dental appointments in England over the next year.
Backed by £200 million of funding, the Government’s Dental Recovery Plan aims to make sure everyone who needs to see a dentist, particularly those who have been unable to access care in the past two years, will be able to do so. The plan will also drive a major new focus on prevention and good oral health in young children, and deliver an expanded NHS dental workforce. Measures in the plan include:
- A greater incentive for dentists to work in underserved areas with a one-off payment of £20,000
- New patient payments will be provided to NHS dentists to prioritise treating adults and children who have not seen a dentist for two years or more
- New Smile for Life programme to expand preventative care for younger children to help reduce tooth decay
My plan includes strengthening local NHS services, so it was great to have the Minister down in Walton to see how she can better support White House and hear what else we can do to improve access to NHS dentists in our community. You can read more about our plan below, and if you're struggling to get an appointment or registered let me know on [email protected].
